Savages Sinners

& Saints

Jesus said “Go into all the world and preach the gospel” so in the spring of 1940, Connor and Aislinn Kilpatrick along with their four friends embark on their first missionary journey to Africa.  Driven by their desire to bring the gospel to the lost, they befriend the captain and crew only to find out they are not what they seem.  Their peaceful journey deteriorates from a delightful cruise in a peaceful ocean, to a perilous voyage in a darkened sea.  Now fearing for their lives, facing a moral dilemma they cannot avoid, they must decide whom they can trust aboard the Charlotte.  Should they do nothing and hope God will intervene, or take action and pray God will spare their lives.

When the Charlotte takes berth in Bathurst, the missionaries step ashore placing their feet on African soil for the first time.  Enthralled by their new surroundings, they begin a new adventure in a foreign land, hunting, eating and celebrating their new adventure.  Their final destination is Abidjan a few days away.  However, one day into the final leg, the Charlotte has engine trouble, compounding the difficulties with an injured man.  Always willing to serve, the missionaries pitch in to help, but when they do they make a ghastly discovery.  Now, too many innocent lives hang in the balance.  They now have no choice but to do the right thing.  Threatened with kidnapping or death, the missionaries must struggle to survive.  Forced by the awful truth they must take great risks to stop a psychopath bent on evil.  Moreover, it may very well cost them everything including their lives.

Savages, Sinners, and Saints has some of the marks of a first-time novelist, but the action is crisp, the dialogue is well-written, and the characters are believable.
